FAQ

What is the difference between line and word comparison?
Line mode suits code, configs and structured documents: you immediately see which lines were added or removed. Word mode is better for prose: if one word changed inside a paragraph, line mode highlights the whole paragraph as changed, while word mode points at that exact word. For reviewing an editor’s corrections, use the second option.
Why the “ignore extra spaces” option?
Because copying from Word, a PDF or a browser often introduces double spaces, tabs and non-breaking characters that a human never sees. Without this option the tool honestly marks such lines as changed even though their meaning is identical. Turn it on for prose and off when comparing code, where indentation matters.
Is there a size limit?
Yes, we compare up to 1200 lines or words on each side. The limit is deliberate: the difference algorithm builds a matrix, and on very large texts the browser would freeze for several seconds. For bigger volumes, split the text into parts or use a version control system such as Git.
