Ukrainian Tax ID and EDRPOU Validator

Documents and bank details

Tax ID and EDRPOU: checksum and date of birth.

The check is purely mathematical: we calculate the checksum and break the code into parts. We do not query state registries, so we never show an owner’s name or a company title — only what is encoded in the number itself.

Where region codes are needed

A reference of Ukrainian administrative, telephone and postal codes.

Filling in documents Contracts, invoices and tax filings require the administrative unit code from the classifier.
Configuring delivery Couriers price by region. In a store this field needs to be set correctly once.
Dialling codes A landline number will not dial without its area code. A standard validation for site forms.
Postal codes Needed for shipping and to validate an order address. Five digits, the first two identify the region.

What the reform changed

In 2020 Ukraine adopted a new classifier and cut the number of districts.

A new classifier Old codes are no longer accepted in documents. If your system fills them automatically, the reference needs updating.
Fewer districts The 490 districts became 136. Many names from older contracts no longer exist.
Communities appeared A new level between district and settlement. Forms often forget to include it.
Postal codes stayed Postal codes were untouched by the reform and remain as they were.

FAQ

How is the date of birth encoded in a Ukrainian tax ID?
The first five digits are the number of days elapsed since 31 December 1899, so 32873 means 1 January 1990. The ninth digit encodes gender: odd is male, even is female. The tenth digit is the checksum, calculated with fixed coefficients, and it makes a typo immediately visible.
Does a valid checksum mean the person or company exists?
No, and this matters. The checksum only catches mechanical errors: swapped digits, a missing character, a typo in a contract. A made-up sequence can pass the check by coincidence. To find out who a code belongs to you need the state registries — YouControl, Opendatabot or the Ministry of Justice service.
Is it safe to enter somebody else’s code here?
The calculation runs entirely in your browser: the code is never sent to our server and never stored. Still, remember that a tax ID is personal data, and storing or sharing it without grounds is inadvisable regardless of which tool you use.
