Tax ID and EDRPOU: checksum and date of birth.

The check is purely mathematical: we calculate the checksum and break the code into parts. We do not query state registries, so we never show an owner’s name or a company title — only what is encoded in the number itself.

FAQ

How is the date of birth encoded in a Ukrainian tax ID?
The first five digits are the number of days elapsed since 31 December 1899, so 32873 means 1 January 1990. The ninth digit encodes gender: odd is male, even is female. The tenth digit is the checksum, calculated with fixed coefficients, and it makes a typo immediately visible.
Does a valid checksum mean the person or company exists?
No, and this matters. The checksum only catches mechanical errors: swapped digits, a missing character, a typo in a contract. A made-up sequence can pass the check by coincidence. To find out who a code belongs to you need the state registries — YouControl, Opendatabot or the Ministry of Justice service.
Is it safe to enter somebody else’s code here?
The calculation runs entirely in your browser: the code is never sent to our server and never stored. Still, remember that a tax ID is personal data, and storing or sharing it without grounds is inadvisable regardless of which tool you use.
