Working days and standard hours by month and quarter, public holidays under martial law, and a calculator of working days between two dates.
While martial law is in force, public holidays are working days: no days off are moved and no pre-holiday days are shortened (Law No. 2136-IX, Art. 6 part 6).
Counting starts the day after the date (Civil Code of Ukraine, Art. 253).
Working hours follow the Ministry of Economy method: working days × day length (week ÷ 5). The ministry has not published an official norm for this year. For shifts, aggregated hours or a six-day week the employer sets the norm.
A website works around the clock: clients leave a request or pay for an order at night or on a holiday, and you get a Telegram notification. The site is yours, with no monthly website-builder fee.
While martial law is in force, public holidays in Ukraine are ordinary working days. Part 6 of Article 6 of Law No. 2136-IX suspended Article 73 of the Labour Code of Ukraine (public holidays), Parts 3–5 of Article 67 (moving the day off when a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday) and Article 53 (the shorter working day before a holiday). So there are as many working days as there are weekdays in the year.
For example, 2026 has 261 working days and 2,088 hours for a 40-hour week. The table breaks this standard down by month, quarter and half-year. Change the length of the week (39, 36, 24 hours and so on) and the standard is recalculated.
The Ministry of Economy’s method is simple: multiply the number of working days by the length of the working day, which is the weekly hours divided by 5. For a 40-hour week that is 8 hours, for a 36-hour week 7.2 hours, for a 24-hour week 4.8. The ministry has not published an official note with the standard for 2026, so employers usually calculate it by the same method.
Once martial law is lifted, public holidays will again be days off, a holiday that falls on a weekend will move the day off to Monday, and the day before a holiday will be one hour shorter (for a 40-hour week). To see this calculation, switch the mode to “Normal”: in 2026 that would be 250 working days and 1,994 hours.
Article 73 of the Labour Code, as amended in 2023: New Year’s Day (1 January), International Women’s Day (8 March), Easter, Labour Day (1 May), Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism (8 May), Trinity (Pentecost), Constitution Day (28 June), Ukrainian Statehood Day (15 July), Independence Day (24 August), Defenders Day (1 October) and Christmas (25 December). Under martial law, these days are worked like ordinary weekdays.
Enter two dates, and the tool counts the working days, calendar days and hours between them. The second form adds a set number of working days to a date, counting from the next day as Article 253 of the Civil Code of Ukraine requires, which is useful for contract deadlines such as “within 10 working days”. For the tax deadlines of a FOP (Ukrainian sole proprietor), there is a separate tax calendar with reminders in Google Calendar.
