FAQ

Why is the result lower than my provider promised?
Your provider quotes the maximum over the cable to your flat, while you measure the whole path: router, Wi-Fi, channel load and distance to the server. A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi easily halves the speed, and neighbouring networks add interference. For a fair check, connect by cable and test again.
What are ping and jitter?
Ping is the round-trip delay to the server. Under 30 ms is comfortable even for gaming, 30–80 ms is fine for work, above 150 ms becomes noticeable in calls. Jitter is the variation of that delay: the lower it is, the more stable your audio and video. High jitter with a normal ping usually means an overloaded Wi-Fi.
How much speed do you actually need?
Email, messengers and browsing are fine on 10–20 Mbps. HD video calls need about 5 Mbps per participant in both directions. Netflix in 4K asks for roughly 25 Mbps. For a family with several devices, 100 Mbps is a comfortable benchmark. More makes sense only if you regularly upload large files.
Are my results stored?
Only if you use the share option: we then keep four numbers (download, upload, latency, jitter) plus the provider name and city. Your IP address is not written to the file. The record lives for a week and is deleted automatically, after which the link stops opening.
