Web development · Energy
generators and EV charging
An energy company's client does not know what they need. They know the power goes out and want someone to work it out: which system, how much, when it pays back. Whoever calculates first gets the sale. So a website in this niche is not a catalog of panels with watts and volts, but a calculator that translates specifications into “enough for the fridge, the boiler and the router for eight hours”.
We build installer and supplier websites around the calculation: a power and payback calculator, ready-made kits for homes, businesses and industry with price ranges, cases with real generation figures, instalment plans. And separately — infrastructure that survives the day everyone googles “buy a generator” at once: custom code without plugins, caching, 90+ PageSpeed on mobile.
A turnkey solar installer and a generator seller sell different things in different ways — so the websites differ. Four typical clients:
A long cycle, a high ticket, lots of questions. The client compares three or four companies for weeks. The site has to walk them from “how much do I need” through cases with numbers to a free engineer's visit.
The decision is fast and emotional — “they cut it today, I'll buy tomorrow”. The winner is whoever's load-based selector gives an answer in a minute, with a visible price, stock available and delivery tomorrow. The site has to be fast and honest.
Two audiences: a private car owner who needs a home charger, and a business — a car park, a residential complex, a fuel station — that needs a project, grid connection and payback. The site has to separate them from the first screen.
Solar plus batteries plus a generator plus smart control — comprehensive solutions for businesses and houses. What sells is engineering expertise: audit, design, installation, service. The site has to show exactly that, not “low prices”.
Industry specifics
Seven modules that take the client from “the power went out” to an engineer's visit:
Home, business, industry, residential complex — a separate page for each: typical tasks, ready-made kits with price ranges, what is included, installation time. The client lands in “their” branch immediately and does not read about industrial plants when they need a backup for a flat.
The client ticks what has to keep running — boiler, fridge, pump, air conditioner — and for how many hours. They get the required power, a recommended kit, a price range and, for solar systems, payback at their tariff. The estimate goes to their e-mail, the lead goes to you.
Panels, inverters, batteries, generators, chargers — specifications in a table for the engineer and an explanation for the owner: “this battery lasts a flat through the night”. Availability, price, delivery.
Site, capacity, equipment, cost, how much it generated in a year, how fast it paid back, what the owner says. With installation photos and, where possible, a live monitoring chart. This is what proves rather than promises.
A monthly payment calculator for a specific kit, partner banks, state and international support programmes, the green tariff or whatever has replaced it — kept current, with an update date. Removes the “this is expensive” barrier.
Warranty on equipment and installation separately, service visits, a monitoring app, what happens if something breaks. In a niche where companies appear and vanish within a season, this is the deciding block.
Licences, manufacturer certifications, total kilowatts installed, a map of sites, engineers with faces. The client checks whether you will still exist in five years when the warranty is needed.
A website in this niche has to calculate, survive the peak and stop leads getting lost between the manager and the engineer:
The estimate with its parameters goes to the client's e-mail as a PDF, and to your CRM as a lead with load, hours and budget. The manager calls with a ready proposal, not with “tell me what you need”.
Equipment priced in foreign currency is recalculated automatically at the National Bank rate or your internal rate. The client sees the current hryvnia price, you do not edit a hundred pages every Monday.
Reserving a generator with a deposit via LiqPay or Monobank — on a blackout day this is what separates a sale from “we will call you back”. Bank pay-in-parts right on the product page.
Completed sites on a map with capacity and photos, and in the cases — a live generation chart from your monitoring system. The client sees the neighbour's system working right now.
Telegram or Viber: the client answers five questions — gets a recommended kit with a price range and a button to call out an engineer. Works at night, when the power is out and everyone is on messengers.
Pages are served from cache, images are compressed, the database is not hit on every view. The site holds a twentyfold traffic spike on the first day of blackouts — and that is exactly when it works for you.
We compare on what affects leads and on whether the site survives a blackout day:
| Site builder (Wix, Tilda) | WordPress theme | Custom build (BB STUDIO) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power and payback calculator | A quiz with no calculation | A plugin, logic cannot be changed | Your formula, a kit and range instantly, PDF to the client |
| Exchange-rate pricing | Manually on every page | A currency plugin that often breaks | Automatic at the NBU or your rate |
| Cases with figures and monitoring | A gallery of roofs | Blog posts | Structured cases, live generation chart |
| Traffic peak on a blackout day | Platform limits | Goes down on cheap hosting | Cache, compression, holds a 20x spike |
| Speed on mobile | Average | Depends on plugins | 90+ PageSpeed — and during a blackout the client is on mobile data |
| Cost of ownership per year | A monthly subscription | Updates, security, plugins | Hosting + optional support |
Marketing
Demand in this niche is spiky and tied to blackouts — the site has to catch the peaks and keep working in the quiet:
“10 kW solar system price”, “5 kW generator for home”, “buy an EV charging station”, “home battery for the night” — kit and category pages collect these queries all year, not just in season.
Clicks in this niche are expensive and get pricier in season. Ads lead to the calculator or a priced kit — the person gets an answer in a minute, and the lead costs a fraction of one from a “leave your number” form.
A video “we installed a 10 kW system, here is what it produced in a year” sells better than any text. We embed it in cases and kit pages — and it builds the trust the niche lacks most.
On the first day of scheduled outages traffic multiplies. The site has to not only survive but show what is in stock for delivery tomorrow — and let people reserve with a deposit. We prepare those pages in advance.
The price depends on calculator complexity, catalog size, whether you need exchange-rate pricing, instalments and CRM integration. Three typical configurations:
Only generators or only home solar: priced kits, a simple load-based selector, cases, warranty, an engineer call-out form. A fast start for seasonal advertising.

In our portfolio we show projects our clients allowed us to publish, so we do not pass off other people's solar plants as ours. What makes an energy company website work — a calculator with your logic, a catalog with self-updating prices, structured cases, and above all speed and resilience under load — we have proven on the studio's e-commerce and corporate projects: custom code without plugins, caching, 90+ PageSpeed on mobile, an admin panel where a manager updates kits and prices without a developer. See our delivered work, and we will discuss the specifics of your solutions at the briefing.
Before starting we go through the competitors in your region. Here is what repeats almost everywhere:
The more of this you have at the briefing, the shorter the timeline. The first two items define the calculator:
A landing page brings fast leads from ads, a multi-page site brings SEO traffic and trust. We compare timelines, budgets and show…
The cost of Google Ads isn’t a fixed rate—it’s determined by auctions, competition, ad quality, landing pages, and your analytics…
